Streamline U. Home Staging

My house is vacant, isn't that the best way to show it?

Actually, a vacant property often doesn't show well. There are so many reasons that I've posted them here on a separate page! Streamline U. can work with you to assemble furniture, accessories and art from our inventory, rentals, or your own.

Fact: Realtors report that vacant homes are often the most challenging to sell. Why?

Here are some of the reasons why empty houses often sit on the market longer. Proper home staging addresses all of these issues.

  • Buyers can’t visualize their own things and how they will fit into the space.
  • There’s nothing to “differentiate” and provide scale so that rooms can be assessed accurately and in their best light.
  • Buyers are drawn to every possible “flaw” because there’s nothing else to look at (and even in a great house there are plenty of flaws to find).
  • The empty house feels sterile and not “home-like,” diminishing emotional connection by the buyers.

Vacant Home Before Staging
BEFORE: Vacant can feel off-putting

Vacant Home After Staging
STAGED: Staged and furnished can create a lifestyle and emotional connection that makes buyers feel "at home"

  • An empty home can remind buyers of the tedious task of moving and the challenging task of decorating.
  • Buyers might miss certain selling points of the house because there are no furnishings to accentuate them. Similarly, they will surely notice “problem areas” because they are not de-emphasized in any way.
  • Buyers do the “tip in,” instead stepping into rooms and spending a few moments there… leading to less time in the house which equates to less emotional connection, making an offer much less likely.
  • Staging eliminates any possible room confusion, and creates new possibilities in rooms whose function isn’t totally clear.
  • From an Active Rain blog, describing a builder who hadn’t yet staged: “While on vacation he visited quite a few new homes that had open houses. After touring many of these exclusive homes he began to understand the power of staging-- he found that in the empty homes he spent 5 minutes max looking around whereas the staged homes he found himself spending 30-35 minutes enjoying the feeling of each space.” (See above on the time-emotional connection-offer relationship.)
I look forward to working with you to stage your Hudson Valley home and property, while meeting your time and budget requirements.
